Re: What makes "Quality of Place" in Louisville?

There are so many qualities that make Louisville such a great place to live. The one that I see that may go unnoticed is the volunteer spirit of this community. Whether it’s a local hospital, an organized non-profit, your local house of worship, or even the firefighter coming to your door; most of these either started as volunteers or currently are volunteers. The countless hours that we gain as a community has strong economic and intrinsic value that benefits each of us. Quality of Place, yes we have it in abundance here in Louisville.

Quality of place suggests environment. However, it is how people engage with the environment that creates quality. The myriad of activities that are available as well as the diversity of people who participate in those activities makes Louisville a special place. Perhaps we are not unlike many small cities but the number of people who migrate here and elect to remain suggests that there is much to engage and enjoy.

There are more reasons that I can count that make me choose to live in Louisville - the ultimate hometown. A few of them are: great restaurants, a cool arts community, beautiful parks, the Louisville Cardinals and so many kind and generous people. The great thing about Louisville is our size. We are small enough that there are, at the most, three degrees of seperation between people who live here. But we are large enough that we have lots of cool "big city" stuff like our area attractions such as the zoo, the Louisville Bats, the Slugger Museum and the very cool large baseball bat out front and Churchill Downs.
One of the most valuable things for me about Louisville is that my family and many life-long friends are here. Many people move away for awhile but almost all of them come back. Having these people in my life is truly one of the greatest things about Louisville.

The thing that makes Louisville the ideal place to live is its size. Louisville is big enough but not too big. You can get anywhere in the city within 15 minutes. There is so much to offer but it never will take longer then 20 minutes to drive.

Another thing that makes Louisville unique is the fact that three of the most known people from around the world are from this city. Muhammad Al and Colonel Sanders. The third is Santa Claus, who is make believe.

Re: What makes "Quality of Place" in Louisville?

As a teenager I thought Louisville was pathetic and I couldn't wait to move away. Almost 40 years later, I'm still here and I love it. Bardstown Road is still the best place to people watch, and now there are ethnic restaurants and cultural diversity in places that I could never have imagined it. Events like Reggae fest and Abbey Road on the River, Light up Louisville and the concerts in Willow Park, have become part of my annual traditions.

Louisville has so many things to be proud of, and I usually don't even think about it. The Ali Center, the Museum of History and Science, the Frazier Musuem, the zoo, Waterfront Park are just a very few.

Finally - someone commented on here that there's only about 3 degrees of separation in Louisville. I always say it's just one and a half degrees. But the size really makes it easy to know lots of people, and to feel connected to people all over the city.

There are many reasons why Louisville is a quality of place; it's diverse city with different people of different nationalities. It's one of the growing cities in America in terms of life quality and jobs creation. Weather is not that bad during winter compare to other places. Entertainment is great in places like fourth street live.

The resident of Louisville are good hearted people who welcome immigrants with open arms and that make Louisville a best places for internationals communities. As aresult, they enrich our coimmunites with new cultures the bring with them.
