More about those state test scores recently released: while most of the attention went to reading and math scores, Jefferson County Public Schools posted major gains in writing scores. The percentage of students scoring proficient or better on the annual Kentucky Core Content Tests jumped from 25% among high school students two years ago to 44.8% last year – pretty big improvement.
That gain probably reflects a push in the schools last year to improve writing scores, which, according to Superintendent Berman, also produced significant reductions in the number of students at all levels who scored at the lowest levels, as well as increases in the number scoring in the top categories.
Those results reflect a truism in education: focusing to bring improvement in one area often has the unintended consequence of pushing scores down in another area – maybe temporarily, but still disconcerting.
That truth doesn’t mean we shouldn’t pay any attention to test scores or make excuses. But we do need to be smart about understanding what they mean. Unintended consequences like those are really the result of working with little human beings -- and not more linear, predictable materials!

Re: Another Perspective on Recently Released Test Scores
Test scores have been the growing problem of those students who are not fun of studying their lessons. Problem like this has to be handled and settled by the students in order for him to excel in the class. Its very difficult to get a high grade so I suggest Its better to study hard, than to repeat again the failed subject.
